South Ledge Lookout

South Ledge Lookout Bushwalk
Well this might of been one of the quickest bushwalks that we have ever taken but we had a beaut time as this walk has a good track to follow and has a beaut lookout at the finish. So with 'Fordie' packed and the kiddies all ready we drove of towards the Mundaring Weir. Which was the sight of this weeks bushwalk.

Before you knew it we were at the carpark and with the van locked up of we went for our walk. This walk will be on a part of the world famous 'BIBBULMUN TRACK' which everyone knows runs from here down all the way to Albany (now that is one flamin' walk mate). The trail follows the contour of the hillside, looking west you get beaut views down the Helena Valley.

Before you know it you start to get your first views of Mundaring Weir and shortly afterwards, you arrive at the Golden View Lookout.

The totem poles that greet you on arrival were completed by arts students at the Kalamunda Senior High School, and feature carvings of many of the animals and plants found in the area.

Then it was time to start our walk back up the trail to the carpark, the return walk was nice as you walk through Wandoo trees.

When we got back to old 'Fordie' it was time for us to have our picnic, as this is the best part of our bushwalks. With our tummy's full with sangers and cookies we headed back down the road in the van to have a gander at the Weir. It's just the end of winter and the Weir is about 40% full which is the best in a long time. As you probably know the Weir sends all it's water out along a pipe line that goes to the Goldfields.
