Swan View bushwalk

Well it was a beaut day so why not go for a little drive and go bushwalking through some of Perth's grouse bushland. So I chucked a couple of kiddies into old Fordie and drove all of about five minutes and we were on the outskirts of Middle swan, in the little township of Swan view which is in the Darling Escarpment.

This walk was mostly uphill along a small track which is covered with old Black Boys and at this time of year their was heaps of small wildflowers.

The view from up top is pretty cool but it's the walk through this very unique west aussie Bush that is just magnificent. During the aussie summer as you know it's flamin' hot 'n dry and our Bush is every shade of the colour brown you can think off. With a little off green in places. But during spring the bush just comes alive with all the wild flowers you can think off.

A little bit of history here.... The Darling Range is the tilted edge of a huge plateau that is the foundation of this part of Western Australia. Here, some of the oldest rocks on Earth are exposed. The granites, gneisses and quartzites are more then 2500 million years old .... strewth!

The whole escarpment is a mixture of reddish-orange laterite rock formed about 10 million years ago and the Jarrah trees, with their stringy greyish-black bark are very predominant, and don't forget the groves of grasstrees which are a defining image of the Darling Range.
