Well it was time to do our next bushwalk at Whitemans Park, this one was to the other railway station along the whitemans track which is called Kangaroo Flats. So with out tucker bag packed, and all the little nevilles warmed up off we go.
as you could see the start of this track was at the main Whitemans railway station, and wonders along some old dirt fire tracks. Here the kiddies had a little rest as we crossed the railway tracks, strewth it's friggin' hard to keep Oscar in one place.
Jacko leading the way.
Just when we were making real beaut time the friggin' 'LNAD UNION' (little nevilles against dad union) downed tools and demanded a smoko, well I for one usually don't give in to friggin' unions but to be fairdinkum i've never crossed a picket line in my life. So I gave in to their demands and parted with some crackers and water, as a proper tucker time wasn't till we made it to Kangaroo Flats.
After awhile we left the fire track and tripped along a more fairdinkum bush track, and as we came around the corner their it was Kangaroo Flats. We made it, in the background you can see the little station.
The mob at Kangaroo Flats!
The history behind this little ripper of a train station is, that it use to be the local bus shelter in a bush town called Pingelly. In 1988 it was brought by the Bennett Brook Railway, and was relocated to Kangaroo Flats siding in 1990.
After our scrutinise smoko it was time to hit the track again, this time we had to follow the posts so we didn't get lost. Beaut idea hay that gives even a rough nut like me a fighting chance of not getting lost, as you can see the countryside has changed hay and under these trees was a friggin' lot cooler then out in the sun.
As we left the cover of the scrub trees we came a crossed the railway again, and as you can see we had the chance to watch the old whiteman train go pass. I keep telling the kiddies that it won't be long before you get a go on the train, I think by now they don't believe me. But when they do get the chance i'm sure they'll appreciate it a lot more, then just going around in a circle and then getting off. They will remember walking to Zamia Station and Kangaroo Flats, so it will be something to remember.
Back on the track again..... 'water, water I must have some water..... i'm down to my last two kilos of baby fat!'

The finish! We made it again, we were back at the Whitemans Village Junction. Here are a couple of the scallywags hanging out a one of the station's camels, it turned out to be only about four kilometers in length. So it was one of our shorter bushwalks, but it was one of our best as the kiddies just love watching the train go past.
Crikey! You try telling this little bloke that it was a short bushwalk, the poor little fella was done like a dogs dinner.

Kangaroo Flats (Whitemans Park)
