John Forrest National Park

Sitting in Western Australia's Darling Range Escarpment just 26km's east of Perth city is the John Forrest National Park. This Park is a favorite for 'Perthites'. It's not huge at only 2676 hectares it's only a kiddie when you think that The Gibson Desert Nature Reserve is 1.9 million hectares, Strewth. So with that useless piece of info in the scone off we went for our bush walk.
Set in a Jarrah forest that is still largely in it's natural state, we walked along the John Forrest Heritage Trail. which run's for five Kilometers along a section of the old eastern railway line. We saw kangaroo paw's, bottlebrushes, wattles. There was plenty of banksias, red gum's, paperbarks and heap's of the aussie favorite 'Blackboys' (grass tree), actually there was more blackboys here then at a Toronto west's B.B.Q!!
Then we finally came to the Park's main attraction, The Swan View Tunnel that was built in the 1890's. This was and still is the only ridgie-didge train tunnel in the whole flamin' state, Fair dinkum. The walk through the tunnel is a bit shonky but real beaut and is a 'must-do' to any fair dinkum tourist visiting the state mate. I know that doesn't say much for the state's tourist attractions ..... but that's Western Australia for ya.
After that we walked the rest of the way to the famous 'National Park Falls, they must of sat up all night thinking that name up. As you can see it was worth the flamin' long walk to get to it.... not!
But it was a beaut time and it's a great walking trail and it won't be the last time me and the scallywags will tread the old toes on it.
